GBDC Children’s Programs

Program A (Ages 3-12) 

Classes are offered from beginner to beginner-intermediate for young girls and boys. This program teaches the joy and beauty of movement. Students develop self-confidence, teamwork skills and a strong dance foundation while having fun in a nurturing environment. Classes include creative dance, ballet, modern jazz, tap, hip-hop, and musical theater. 

 

Program B (Ages 9-18) 

Training is offered from the beginning-intermediate level to advance for older girls and boys. Classes include ballet, pointe & variations, modern, jazz, tap, hip-hop, African dance, and musical theater. Our curriculum is designed to help students grow as young artists and develop a strong technical foundation in an enriching environment. Students learn self-discipline, concentration, self-confidence, and the value of teamwork. Program B students have been admitted into prestigious colleges and universities. Program B students may be invited to audition for fusion2- Dancefusion’s junior company.  

 

All students are placed into levels by age and ability determined by the school. New parents should contact the school for their child’s placement. Advancement is determined through faculty evaluation during the year. Students interested in pointe or pre-pointe must have receive permission from the school Director and meet the level requirements. 

 

 

Musical Theater (Ages 7-13) 

Directed by Gwendolyn Bye and Kerian Pearson, this program teaches acting, singing, dancing and improvisation while learning original or classical musical. Classes start the first week of October and culminate in the spring with musical theater production. 

Summer Programs  

GBDC offers Summer Programs that run between June and August 

 

Performing Arts Summer Camp 

Six weeks- 9am to 4pm, Monday through Friday  

A selection of classes are offered in ballet, modern, jazz, tap, hip-hop, acting, musical theater, arts & crafts, and recreation for children ages 6-12.  

 

Ballet & Dance Focus 

Five weeks- 9:30am to 4pm, Monday through Friday 

For students with prior training and offers a more comprehensive program for children ages 10-17 in ballet, pointe & variations, modern, jazz, hip-hop, African dance and repertory.  

 

Saturday Dance 

Five weekly classes- 10:30am to 1:30pm 

Ballet and tap for children ages 3-7  

 

Dance Intensive Workshops 

Two weeks to Four weeks (dates and times TBA) 

Comprehensive training for intermediate/advanced level students in ballet, pointe & variation, and modern dance for ages 13 to adults, must qualify  

 

Scholarships 

A limited number of partial scholarships are awarded to students who qualify and are selected through an audition during the year. Scholarships are awarded based on merit and financial need. Contact GBDC for more information.
